Leagues, tournaments and provincial teams
Fixtures, results and standings live on SportyHQ. This page covers how the competitions work, when they run and what the rules ask of players.
Winter League
The main club league, played on Thursday evenings from 18h00 across the Bloemfontein courts, from the first league down to the seventh and eighth (development) leagues. Results are captured on SportyHQ by team managers and checked weekly by the League Secretary.
The double-dot ball may be used in cold conditions. Trophies and certificates are presented at the season's prize-giving.
Marking and refereeing. Every match must have a marker and a referee, one from each side. If a team cannot provide one, the match does not start. Revision sessions are held before the season and all league players are encouraged to complete the online marking and refereeing course; the amended World Squash singles rules have applied since 1 September 2025.
Summer League
A social, sponsored-team league played on Thursday evenings between October and March, with a break over December. Teams carry a sponsor's name, and clubs are paid per league night hosted plus a contribution to the closing function.
2026/27 season. Play starts on 15 October 2026. Invoices are issued on approval of a team and entry fees are payable by 7 October 2026. Fees are unchanged from last season. No payment, no entry.
Following concerns about players being entered below their strength, the committee resolved in August 2026 that the ranking list will be published before the season, a formal appeal process will apply, teams playing participants out of position face negative points and possible suspension, no matches may be played after the scheduled time, and missed matches get a one-week catch-up. Players will acknowledge the rules in the league app before they get access.
Draft player position list, 2026/27. Draft for review
The list places every registered player in a position band from 1 (strongest) to 8. It is published now so that players and clubs can check their placing before team entries close. Queries go to your club representative or the League Secretary; the formal appeal process applies once the list is final.

Provincial teams
The Association selects and supports Free State teams for the Growthpoint Jarvis (men) and Kaplan (women) interprovincials, the Masters IPT and the Masters doubles, and, through Free State Schools Squash, junior teams in every age group from U11 to U19. Selection for the senior side is by ladder and a two-week challenge window, with the Free State Closed compulsory.
Free State colours are awarded by the committee under the constitution. Financial assistance towards national events is decided case by case within the year's budget.
Masters and Squash 57
A Masters and Squash 57 sub-committee runs masters squash and racketball in the province. Free State teams took part in the 2025 and 2026 Masters IPT and Nationals, with good finishes for the men's B and D teams and the ladies' team in June 2026, and a local racketball challenge is used to rank Squash 57 players.
Masters players over 35 who would like to play for the province should contact Zelna Delport through the Secretary.
