SA Junior Top 16 Closed – Johannesburg
The SA Junior Top 16 Closed Tournament was held in Johannesburg from 17–19 April 2026, with Free State juniors once again producing excellent performances at national level.
A special congratulations to Cobus Schimper, who won the Boys U17 section after an outstanding tournament.
Congratulations also to Vivienne van der Schyff, who finished 5th in the Girls section and has qualified to represent South Africa the World Junior Squash event later this year. This is a significant achievement and the highest honours that a junior player can achieve and a proud moment for Free State squash.
SA Junior Inter Provincial Tournament
We have many juniors who will be competing in the upcoming Junior IPT, commencing on 27 June 2026. We also wish all our juniors participating the very best for the tournament.
Free State Closed 2026
The Free State Closed Tournament was held from 7–10 May 2026 and enjoyed good support, with a total of 38 players participating across the various sections.
It was particularly encouraging to see strong junior participation throughout the event, highlighting the continued development of young players within the province.
In the Men's A Section, Kiran van Eeden defeated Tremayne McDonald in the final.
In the Ladies Section, Sorika Engelbrecht defeated Benedette van Tonder in the final.
Growthpoint SA Senior Regionals
The Growthpoint SA Senior Regionals will take place over the weekend of 19 June 2026.
Entries close on 31 May 2026, and all players intending to participate in the Jarvis Kaplan IPT are reminded that entry into the tournament is compulsory in terms of Jarvis tournament requirements.
Senior IPT – Jarvis & Kaplan Cup
The Senior IPT (Jarvis Kaplan and Kaplan Cup) will take place during the second week of July 2026.
Free State will be sending both a Men's A and Men's B side to the tournament.
The union remains committed to growing ladies squash within the province, with the goal of fielding a Free State ladies side at IPT next year.
